Having a baby really puts things in perspective. You have the energy to ensure a tiny human doesn’t die and that’s about it. You wake up after finally getting to sleep with a shot of adrenaline to make sure they a) haven’t spontaneously rolled over and b) still breathing. Really rude of them to need the most amount of care and attention while also ensuring you don’t get to sleep. It doesn’t seem like a fair tradeoff. Time becomes a valuable resource that is ever fleeting. Things that used to take an hour now take about 3 weeks. So a board game we’ve been making since 2018 that’s now in its final steps and needs that last push to tie everything together? Currently it’s either write this blog post or shower, and I’m choosing to be a filth beast.
Myself, Jackson and Adam having been chipping away on and off for the last 6 years to make something we’re truly proud of. The Jarren’s Outpost Board Game Kickstarter is almost ready to launch, we just received the prototype in the mail and we’re excited to finally showcase this unique board game that we’ve dedicated a lot of time and energy into.
To help with the launch of the Kickstarter, we hired our good friend and audio engineer, the very talented Shaun Allen, to take a look at the original Jarren’s Outpost campaign and to see if he could cut out all the faff, make it a streamlined listening experience for new and old listeners and enhance it with sfx and soundscapes. He’s done an incredible job considering the original podcast was split over two seasons, had different length episodes and when recorded it we had an oscillating fan on in the room because it was hot and we are stupid. We did our best to EQ it out at the time, but it’s still there, keeping us cool in the past and ruining my day in the future.
On both the Imagination+ and public D&D is for Nerds feed, the Enhanced Edition will be gracing your ears weekly but if you want to help support your favourite idiots and listen to the whole 14 episodes right now, you can grab Jarren’s Outpost: Enhanced Edition as a digital download. It also includes several bonus tracks including Leo’s Theme, Periwinkle’s Theme and the Ballad of Greg Piss.
Once again, if you haven’t followed us on Kickstarter, please do so as once we hit 1000 followers we’ll launch in a month and we’re just 100 folks away! And if you want to check out a bit more of the board game, you can check out the website jarrensoutpost.com. Johnny Baby is still sleeping, so I’m going to take this opportunity to finally have that shower.
